Reflective Difference

WOW! Can you believe it? 2014 is drawing to a close. It makes sense that at the end of the year many of us are taking some time to reflect on the past 365 days. We may be thinking about our accomplishments, our  disappointments, and our steadiness. Reflection and evaluation takes place for businesses (small and large) and organizations too. At Erick’s Place we’re pondering the year. Let’s take a look back at some of our accomplishments, disappointments and steadiness.

Our Accomplishments: For more than 7 years we have continued to make a difference in the lives of children with special medical needs and their families. Through pajama donations and volunteers we have delivered over 4500 pairs of pajamas to a variety of hospitals and pediatric facilities as far north as Brooklyn, NY and as far south as Vineland, NJ. Monetary donations have helped us provide more than $8,000.00 in college scholarships since 2006. We’ve helped purchase furniture for families, provided funds for groceries, partnered with organizations to purchase a hearing aid for a child with hearing deficits and an orthopedic device to help a child walk.

Our Disappointments: We are truly blessed to be able to assist in whatever way we can that is within our means. Our only disappointment is that we were not able to help more special needs children and their families. Even with disappointment the blessings of accomplishment reign high and have made a difference – PERIOD.

Our Steadiness: For seven years we have stayed our course. We will continue to collect brand new pajamas for children ages 0 -18 years. We will continue with our annual college scholarship to a young man graduating high school and pursuing higher education within the STEM career trajectory. We will continue to encourage those who are struggling with Unforgiveness, helping them realize the peace that accompanies Forgiveness. We are proud of the new partnerships developed in 2014; they have helped us to serve a wider footprint. Our partners include Cooper Learning Center, Pediatric Networking Group, SJ Special Needs Networking Group and the West Atco Youth In Action organization. Finally, we received our CFC designation. This means federal employees can donate to our organization through payroll deduction. Our CFC#:27172.

Every one of us has the ability to contribute to the lives of others, and through Erick’s Place we are paying it forward. The best way for us to continue is through generous donations from you – our supporters, encouragers and volunteers. Thank you for a great 2014 and we look ahead to 2015!
